Ocean County Academic Certificates

Ocean County College (OCC) offers a wide variety of Certificates designed to equip students with skills for the workplace! Certificates offer students the opportunity to earn college credit and a credential in a short amount of time. The credits earned in a Certificate program can also be applied to a degree! OCC offers Certificates of Proficiency and Certificates of Completion. Certificates of Proficiency require 30 or more credits, while Certificates of Completion require a fewer number of credits. OCC is accredited through Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Who Should Enroll?

OCC certificate programs are open to BHMT bargaining unit members employed at Kaiser Permanente who are eligible to receive benefits through the Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust and Tuition Reimbursement program. Admission to OCC only requires a placement test! No previous college coursework is required. Previous coursework in Math or English may exempt you from the placement test. Please contact the HUB, Express Enrollment Services for possible placement test exemptions!

Transfer

You may be closer to graduating than you think! OCC accepts up to 32 transfer credits, which is half of an Associate’s degree! Send in your unofficial transcripts now for a review of your previously coursework: hub@ocean.edu

 

 

How to Enroll?
    1. Meet with your BHMT Counselor to receive Academic Success Coaching referral.
    2. Meet with your Success Coach to receive your BHMT certificate.
    3. BHMT students have access to the HUB, Express Enrollment Services for assistance with registration. Schedule the Accuplacer Readiness Exam or send unofficial transcripts with previous Math/English courses to hub@ocean.edu. The HUB can also assist you with scheduling the placement test! Your Academic Success Coach will forward your BHMT certificate to hub@ocean.edu.

  • You must be an active KP Union Coalition Employee.
  • You must have completed your probationary period.
  • You must be a regular, benefited full-time or part-time employee – typically working 20 hours or more per week.
  • Have computer access with Internet

  • Participants must have a reliable computer with a high speed internet connection.
  • If you don’t have access to a reliable computer, we can lend you one! Learn more.
  • They also need a current version of a common browser (such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox).

Student Agreement

This program and participation is governed by the terms of the BHMT Student Agreement. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the student agreement; by registering and participating in this program you are agreeing to comply with it.

 

 

Unsuccessful Course Completion and Dropped Class Policy

Ben U programs require your time and effort on a consistent basis as well as communicating with the course instructor, tutor, or BHMT Career Counselor if you are having difficulties or conflicts. Should you not complete your program successfully with a ‘C’ or better, pass, or drop the course by the institution’s 1st drop date, your participation in Trust programs may be suspended for a period of twelve months.
