RN to BSN
The RN to BSN Program is a specialized Degree Program developed for those currently working in a Kaiser Permanente RN position who wish to pursue a BSN degree. BHMT-eligible participants receive a maximum benefit of $16,500 (covering tuition, fees and books) to attend an RN to BSN program through one of BHMT’s partner schools. Participants may also apply for the Individual Stipend Program (ISP) which provides funds for wage replacement while in school.
Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust (BHMT) has partnered with a number of academic providers who offer substantially reduced tuition and fees for RN to BSN programs. Only RN to BSN programs with our active, partner schools are available for the BHMT RN to BSN direct payment program. Participation in RN-BSN non-partner school programs may be eligible for the ISP, wage replacement benefit only.

How do I apply for the RN to BSN program?
- Log into MyBHMT.org and complete your profile.
Then make an appointment with your BHMT Career Development Coach. - Meet with your BHMT Career Development Coach.
Your BHMT Career Development Coach will discuss your career direction and readiness to learn. Your career development coach will also refer you to your BHMT Academic Success Coach to discuss your education options. - Make an Appointment with BHMT Academic Success Coach.
Once your Career Development Coach has referred you, you, a BHMT Academic Success Coach (ASC) will send you a calendar link to enable you to make a phone appointment with them. When your appointment is scheduled, your BHMT Academic Success Coach will begin your educational planning, help you decide which academic institution partner is the best fit for your goals, and provide information about interfacing with schools.

- Your meeting with your BHMT Academic Success Coach starts the application process.
Once your BHMT Academic Success Coach verifies your learning readiness and you have selected your school, your ASC will forward to that school a certificate of your acceptance to the RN to BSN program. You should then complete the application process required by your school. It is advisable to talk with your school’s admission counselor/advisor to ensure that you fully understand and complete the application process. Upon acceptance and course registration with the school of your choice, your tuition payments and other covered costs of attendance (fees and books) will be paid by BHMT up to a program maximum of $16,500. PLEASE NOTE: BHMT will access your available KP Tuition Reimbursement funds as part of your BHMT funding. You can track your available BHMT ISP program balance by logging into MyBHMT.
The 6-month review
You must meet the following requirements to renew your program participation at least two times a year
- At least twice a year, meet with your BHMT Academic Success Coach.
Your BHMT Academic Success Coach will review your progress and discuss your experience. - If You are an ISP Participant, submit academic documentation.
You must submit a copy of your class schedule for your first term only in PDF or JPG format to BHMT via MyBHMT. After that, BHMT will automatically receive your grades and class schedule from your school. If the school does not provide us with your class schedule and grades, you may have to upload the supporting documents via MyBHMT
Do NOT start a new stipend application unless you have changed schools/programs or were directly instructed by BHMT. Make sure you upload your course schedule and grade reports to the correct ISP application. Duplicate and inactive applications can lead to non-payment and possible suspension of payments. Make sure to include your NUID# and EID# for faster identification and processing.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- You must be a KP Union Alliance or Coalition Employee with “active” KP employment status.
- You must have completed your probationary period.
- You must be a BHMT eligible part-time or full-time KP benefited employee.
- You must possess a current unencumbered RN license.
- You must have an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- You must be currently working in a KP position that requires an RN license.
