Ocean County College (OCC) offers quality, online educational experiences for working adults around the world. All OCC courses and degrees are built to be asynchronous so that you can fit schoolwork around your other responsibilities. OCC employs top tier, experienced online instructors who serve as experts in their field and who have also completed rigorous training in online teaching and learning.

 

At OCC, you have the option of starting with a certificate that will later count toward your degree! OCC also offers a full suite of online student services to support you along the way: enrollment counseling, 24/7 course support, full access to library databases and live chat, degree planning and academic advising, and tutoring in all subject areas. OCC paves the way for you to achieve your educational and professional goals by offering a wide variety of seamless transfer pathways designed to move you toward pursing a Baccalaureate or graduate degree!

 

Program Details

Degree programs: 64 credits
Certificates: 22-30 credits (credits can be applied to degrees)
Cost: KP & BHMT provide a $5,250 yearly Tuition Benefit to eligible employees.

 

HINT: You may apply for the BHMT Individual Stipend Program to use while obtaining your degree or academic certificate.

Who Should Enroll?

OCC degree programs are open to BHMT bargaining unit members employed at Kaiser Permanente who are eligible to receive benefits through the Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust and Tuition Reimbursement program. Admission to OCC only requires a placement test! No previous college coursework is required. Previous coursework in Math or English may exempt you from the placement test. Please contact the HUB, Express Enrollment Services for possible placement test exemptions!

How Do I Get Started In This Program?
  1. Go to MyBHMT.org. Update your information or create a new account if you have not done so. (required)
  2. Meet with your Career Counselor to determine your eligibility. Your Career Counselor will also provide the information you need for next steps. Contact your regional career counselor.

  • You must be an active KP Union Coalition Employee.
  • You must have completed your probationary period.
  • You must be a regular, benefited full-time or part-time employee – typically working 20 hours or more per week.
  • Have computer access with Internet

  • Take placement test, offered online! Or, send in unofficial transcripts with previously completed Math or English coursework for possible placement test exemptions

Transferability
  • Transfer In: Ocean County College will accept up to 32 transfer credits or ½ of the credits in a certificate program. Our programs are designed for transfer!

Career Counseling

Your first step is with your BHMT Career Counselor who will help you to develop an overall career plan. During your time at Ocean County, you will be required to check-in with your Academic Success Coach. This certificate will allow you to remain active in the Degree Completion Program. BHMT Career Counselors are available to assist you with your overall career plan and to discuss how previous course work may fit. Your BHMT Team—Career Counselors, Academic Success Coaches and Project Managers, can also ensure that you are accessing all the tools available to help you in your studies. Contact your regional career counselor.

 

 

Student Agreement

This program and participation is governed by the terms of the BHMT Student Agreement. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the student agreement; by registering and participating in this program you are agreeing to comply with it.

 

 

Unsuccessful Course Completion and Dropped Class Policy

Ben U programs require your time and effort on a consistent basis as well as communicating with the course instructor, tutor, or BHMT Career Counselor if you are having difficulties or conflicts. Should you not complete your program successfully with a ‘C’ or better, pass, or drop the course by the institution’s 1st drop date, your participation in Trust programs may be suspended for a period of twelve months.
