San Marcos Healthcare Learning Center – IV Certification Program

Students will learn by lecture as well as clinical/hands-on experience. Topics will include but are not limited to:

• Legal aspects
• Universal precautions
• Indications for IV therapy and blood withdrawal
• Infection control
• Psychological preparation of the patient

Students are required to successfully demonstrate IV insertions and blood withdrawal skills on other students or a designated proxy.

This program is open to all RN and LVN Staff in the San Diego County area and is approved and governed by the California Board of Vocational Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT). The IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal course provides training and certification to RNs and LVNs wanting to expand their scope of practice. The 36-hour course is offered in (3) 12-hour days.

Due to the unique agreement between San Marcos Healthcare Learning Center (SMHLC) and BMHT, request to be included in one of our scheduled classes should be received at least 3-weeks before the class start date.

1. Fill out and submit the request form below. Please select a class date from the drop-down menu that is at least 3-weeks from today’s date.
2. You will receive a confirmation email that we have received your request for inclusion within 24 hours. If you don’t receive confirmation email, please send a message to admin@nclexpasser.com or text 619-704-9088.
3. Your information will be sent to BMHT to check your eligibility.
4. Once eligibility is confirmed by BMHT, you will receive an email notification of your completed registration for the class.
