Overview

General education courses offer you a variety of self-paced, online learning opportunities from accredited schools to help build the foundation you need for career growth, to gain skills you can use today, and to prepare you for success in any field of study. If your long-term plan includes pursuing a degree, be sure to verify that the general education courses you choose meet the program prerequisites, and that the credits are transferable before you register.

PLEASE NOTE: BHMT will use your available KP tuition reimbursement funds for eligible tuition, fees and materials expenses. If available tuition reimbursement funds are not sufficient to cover expenses, BHMT will cover the remainder at no cost to you.

Important Notice About Transferability of Credits Earned at CTU
Whether CTU courses fulfill prerequisite requirements depends on the degree program you intend to pursue and the school where you plan to earn your degree. If you wish to transfer credits earned through CTU to another college, it is your responsibility to speak to an advisor at the college you plan to attend before starting a CTU course to discuss whether the CTU credits are transferable. Your intended transfer school determines the transferability of credits earned at CTU. CTU course descriptions are available for you to provide to your transfer school.

Proof of Completion of High School or GED
You will need to submit proof of your completion of high school or GED to CTU Admissions within 48 hours of enrollment. Your CTU Admissions Advisor can assist you should you need help with securing your document. If you do not produce the proof document, diploma or transcripts, then any CTU course you completed will be cancelled and you will lose course grades.

Will I earn college credits? Are these classes transferable?

Yes, these are college classes and you will earn college credits from CTU. Credits can be counted towards a degree. CTU is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. If planning to transfer to another college, we strongly recommend that you speak to an admission advisor of the college you are planning to attend to discuss the transferability of your credits.

How do I enroll?

First-time students must complete a CTU admission application. If you are a returning CTU student please call 1-855-283-1590 to enroll in a class.

How do I know if I’ve secured a spot in class?

These classes do not have a maximum capacity and will accommodate every student who registers. There will not be a “traditional cohort” which has been common for BHMT classes. You will be able to register freely on your own and take classes around your own schedule. Your registration confirmation will come from CTU.

What if I need to cancel or drop out? What happens to my Tuition Reimbursement account?

Withdraws will be handled by CTU representatives. Please contact the Student Advisor (1-855-283-1590, BHMT@coloradotech.edu) or you can contact the student advisor assigned to you. You have until the end of week one (by Saturday) to cancel or drop the course. If you find your circumstances prevent you from remaining in the course, you will need to let the instructor and BHMT know. Your tuition reimbursement will not be charged, however failure to communicate may result in you not being able to participate in any trust-sponsored program for a period of twelve months.

What happens if I drop or do not complete the class? Would I still be able to participate in BHMT programs?

You have the ability to drop a course during the first week (early drop) without any impact to later course registration. If you drop the course after the first week (late drop) or do not receive a passing grade of C or better, you must successfully complete the College Gateway class in order to retake the course or enroll in another prerequisite course. Should you opt not to take this College Gateway class, you will not be eligible to participate in any BHMT-sponsored program for a period of twelve months.

How many hours a week should I expect to spend “in class”?

You are expected to spend 1-2 hours per day over a 5 week period. You will be expected to participate in discussions with your instructor and fellow students about project phases and tasks topics.Discussion board topics are tied to specific tasks for each week. Please note: Discussion posts are graded. You will hvae 2 hours or real-time chat each week. Real-time chats focus on the course topic for each week of the 5 week session and re archived, so you can review the discussion on our own schedule.

What are my responsibilities?

Please sign up only if you are committed to completing the class. Completion is of high importance! Grades are given. You must receive a C or better to be eligible for most regional tuition reimbursement programs.

What happens after I complete the class?

CTU will send your final grade to BHMT so your Tuition Reimbursement account can be charge appropriately.

HOW DO I LEARN THE COURSE LECTURE MATERIAL WITHOUT ONLINE LIVE LECTURES?

The instructor has defined the course material you will need to learn for each topic. You will have required reading and access to recorded lectures. There are online study tools to read, view, listen to, and interact with to help you learn the content. The instructor is also available to assist you.

Can I use my Education Leave?

Talk with your department manager and union steward about how you can best use your Education Leave.

What happens if I have exhausted my tuition reimbursement benefits? Would I still be eligible to take this course?

BHMT will recover tuition reimbursement eligible expenses to the maximum available. Should an individual not have sufficient funds to cover the expenses or should the classes exceed the regional maximum, BHMT will bear the expense.

Eligibility Requirements:

You must be a KP Union Alliance or Coalition Employee with “active” KP employment status.
You must have completed your probationary period.
You must be a BHMT eligible part-time or full-time KP benefited employee..

Unsuccessful Course Completion and Dropped Class Policy Ben U programs require your time and effort on a consistent basis as well as communicating if you are having difficulty or a conflict in time. Should you not complete your program successfully with a ‘C’ or better, or drop the course by the institution’s first drop date, you will not be able to participate in any Trust program for a period of twelve months.
