HOC – San Diego – IV Therapy-Blood Withdrawal Certification

Grossmont Health Occupations Center IV Therapy/Blood Withdrawal Certification

 

This certification is offered in person at our Grossmont HOC campus located in Santee, CA. Students will learn through direct instruction, simulation, and hands-on skills training. Topics include but are not limited to:

 

  • History and legal aspects
  • Indications and complications
  • Patient care and psychological preparation
  • Site preparation and anatomical details
  • Infection control and universal precautions

Who Should Enroll?

This program is available for current RN or LVN staff. The IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal course is 40 hours and is offered over ten 4-hour night classes to allow participants work flexibility. The 22-23 schedule is offered on Monday nights, 5-9 pm with a class starting in January and August each year.

 

 

How Do I Get Started?

  • You must be a KP Union Alliance or Coalition Employee with “active” KP employment status.
  • You must have completed your probationary period.
  • You must be a benefited employee typically working 20 or more hours per week.
  • Must be a BHMT eligible participant.
  • Must understand and agree with the BHMT Student Agreement for Participants in Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust Programs.
  • Open only to San Diego region.

Student Agreement

This program and participation is governed by the terms of the BHMT Student Agreement. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the student agreement; by registering and participating in this program you are agreeing to comply with it.

 

 

Unsuccessful Course Completion and Dropped Class Policy

Ben U programs require your time and effort on a consistent basis as well as communicating with the course instructor, tutor, or BHMT Career Development Coach if you are having difficulties or conflicts. Should you not complete your program successfully with a ‘C’ or better, pass, or drop the course by the institution’s 1st drop date, your participation in Trust programs may be suspended for a period of twelve months.
