Earn CE credits through the BHMT English Proficiency Program. AmEnglish, in collaboration with California State University @ Monterey Bay (CSUMB) College of Extended Study, offers CE courses in speaking, listening and writing in English. You can earn up to 12 CE credits. To register and get started, click the register button below and get started today; you will have 12 months to complete your coursework.

These programs will help you identify and avoid common grammar/syntax mistakes as well as help you write clear, concise, and correct English.

Who Should Enroll

All BHMT participants who want to improve their reading, writing, and speaking skills in English or practicing for the TOEFL® test by using tips and official test prep material.

How Do I Register?

Click on Register button below.
Go to Student Login and enter your NUID and preferred email.
There will be an option to opt-in for a weekly Tips from the Author email with links to narrated videos and recommendations on ways to take full advantage of the interactive, online programs.
Once you have registered, you will have instant access to the English Skills Series content.
After registration, you will only need your email to login.

Do I need my manager’s approval?

No. Please note that this program is self-selected.

How much does this program cost?

BHMT will pay for the 1-year online subscription cost and the CE registration cost.

Is there a cap on training?

No. A registered participant has unlimited access to the English Skills Series anytime. Each program includes 40 hrs. of content, so you are able to complete the modules at your own pace.

This is a “self-paced” program. What does that mean?

There is flexibility throughout the English Skills Series for self-pacing between learning modules and quizzes so you can learn the material at your own speed. Once you register, the material is accessible 24 hours per day, anywhere there is Internet access.

Can I use my Education Leave for this class?

Talk with your department manager and union steward about how you can best use your Education Leave for this program.

How long do I have to complete the course?

You will have 12 months to complete all courses after you register.

How long will it take me to complete the course?

Each course requires a total of 20 hours of time in the online program, audio books (for “Idioms” and “Pronunciation”), and “Tips from the Author” emails.

Can I get credit for the time I have already spent?

Yes. We will review your activity and give you credit for any time spent in the online program in the previous 12 months.

What if I have trouble passing the Final Review?

You can take the final exam multiple times; your highest score will be saved.

If you have difficulty with the final, don’t forget to go back and review sections in the program.

What if I cannot finish in time?

If you cannot complete the requirements during the 12 month period, you can register again. We will track and credit you for time spent in the program, audio books (if appropriate), or “Tips from the Author” emails.

How much time is credited for 'audio books' or 'Tips from the Author' emails?

We credit an hour for time spent in “audio books” and an hour for reading all of the “Tips from the Author” emails.
