Ambulatory Care RN Preceptor

Want to help new or transitioning nurses feel confident and supported? The Ambulatory Care RN Preceptor Program trains RNs to become effective preceptors—trusted mentors who guide others in clinical settings. Preceptors do more than teach—they:
- Support nurses as they step into new roles
- Strengthen teamwork and build trust
- Help create a safe, welcoming work environment
This training supports the Ambulatory Care RN Residency Program, but the skills you gain can be used in any care setting.

- Leading with confidence
You’ll also earn 9.25 contact hours of continuing nursing education credit from Relias after completing all modules and the course evaluation.
Program format
- 100% online and self-paced
- Available 24/7 to fit your schedule
- A mix of reading and video lessons
- No cost for eligible employees
NOTE: This course is designed to complement instructor-led training in your region.
- Be a KP Union Alliance or Coalition employee
- Have active KP employment status
- Be a BHMT-eligible employee
- Have completed your probationary period
You’ll need:
- A reliable computer with an internet connection
- A current browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
Ask about BHMT’s Laptop Lending Program if you need a computer for your classes.
- Select the Register button.
- Enter your NUID to confirm your eligibility.
- Read and approve the BHMT Beneficiary Agreement.
- Log in using your NUID and password:
- First-time users: your password is “kaiser”
- You’ll be prompted to change it and add a recovery option
- Once logged in, search for “Ambulatory Preceptor” in the portal.
- Follow the prompts to begin.
