Improve your English skills
If English isn’t your first language and you want to get better at it, the AmEnglish Program can help. You’ll practice speaking, listening, and writing in English. You can also earn up to 12 Continuing Education (CE) credits. This program is a partnership between BHMT, AmEnglish, and California State University Monterey Bay.
Who should enroll?
This program is great for BHMT participants who want to:
- Improve their overall English proficiency skills
- Prepare for the TOEFL® test
- Build confidence using English on the job.
You can learn anytime, anywhere. Use your computer, mobile phone or tablet (PC, Mac, iPhone, Android) to stream or download the programs. The courses work just like a music file for easy playback.
What can you learn?
BHMT participants can choose from 17 self-paced programs in three focus areas:
Speaking: Practice using stress, tone, and rhythm to sound more natural in English.
Listening: Learn common phrases and improve your listening skills.
Writing: Get better at grammar, writing clear sentences, and making your writing easy to understand.
To be eligible for AmEnglish courses, you must:
- Be a KP Union Alliance or Coalition employee
- Be a BHMT-eligible employee
- Have completed your probationary period
- A reliable computer with an internet connection
- A current browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge
- A microphone is recommended for certain programs
Ask about BHMT’s Laptop Lending Program if you need a computer for your classes.
- Select the Register button.
- Enter your NUID to confirm your eligibility.
- Read and approve the BHMT Beneficiary Agreement.
- Go to Student Login and enter your NUID and email.
- Choose whether to receive weekly tips from the author (includes narrated videos and learning tips).
- You’ll get instant access to all course materials.
- After registering, just use your email to log in next time. Once you register, you’ll have 12 months to finish your coursework.
This is a very good program that helps employees with their career growth.
