The RN to BSN Program is a diversification of the current Individual Stipend Program for those pursuing their BSN degree.

BE ADVISED: IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO PURSUE YOUR MASTER’S OF NURSING (MSN) DEGREE AFTER COMPLETING YOUR BACHELOR'S OF NURSING (BSN) DEGREE PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHECK WITH YOUR FUTURE SELECTED SCHOOL ABOUT WHICH BSN PROGRAMS THEY WILL ACCEPT INTO THEIR MASTER’S PROGRAM.

  1. Stipend payments
  2. Tuition assistance
  3. A combination of BOTH stipends and tuition assistance

Every participant has a total maximum benefit of $16,000 that will be used with any of the above choices. BHMT has partnered with multiple providers to offer a variety of school options. Participants must choose from this group of providers as these schools have made substantial reductions to their usual tuition and fees exclusively for BHMT.

Am I eligible to apply?

Each school in the RN to BSN program may or may not have additional pre-requisite requirements for admission. Please review your school choice and their requirements and contact their Academic/Enrollment Advisor for more information.

How do I apply?

  1. Meet with your BHMT Career Counselor to discuss your career direction, professional goals and academic pursuits. You will receive a certificate once your counselor has verified your readiness to enter the program.
  2. Start collecting your unofficial transcripts and academic history so you can meet with EdAssist and receive your Advising Session form.
  3. Meet with EdAssist who will evaluate your transcripts, verify your completion of prerequisites and identify transferable courses if applicable. If qualified, you will then receive an Advising Form and instructions to access the RN to BSN application.
  4. Apply through the online application form.
  5. Once completed the application will be sent to the Regional Review Board.  When/if approved you will be notified by BHMT.
  6. Once approved you must apply to your school of choice within thirty (30) days or you risk losing your slot for 2016.
  7. Once accepted by your school meet with EdAssist to complete your Education and Financial Plan.

PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT apply to the school before you are approved by the Regional Review Board or you may be personally responsible for tuition and related expenses.  If you are taking the stipend benefit you will need to provide more documents such as your pay stub and a direct deposit form if you wish to be paid electronically. Please keep both your Counselor Certificate and your Advising Session Form from EdAssist.

Participants in this program will have three funding options for their program:

  1. Tuition Assistance
  2. Stipend Payments
  3. A combination of BOTH stipends and tuition assistance

Every participant has a total maximum benefit of $16,000 that will be used with any of the above choices. BHMT has partnered with multiple providers to offer a variety of school options. To access the tuition assistance option participants must choose from the group of listed preferred providers as these schools have made substantial reductions to their usual tuition and fees exclusively for BHMT.

TUITION ASSISTANCE OPTION

BHMT has negotiated a special tuition rate with specific schools. Your tuition (NOT including books and lab fees) will be paid directly from BHMT to your academic provider.

PLEASE NOTE: BHMT only pays school tuition expenses directly on a participant’s behalf.
Book/Processing/Online/Lab and other related fees are NOT ELIGIBLE for reimbursement through BHMT. These fees may be covered by your regional KP Tuition Reimbursement program.
Keep in mind that your KP Tuition Reimbursement account refreshes every year.

STIPEND OPTION

Stipends are replacement wages paid for the time you take off from work to either study or go to class. Your manager must approve all time off in order to use the stipend benefit. The maximum time off is 8 hours a week or 16 hours per pay period up to $16,000 per employee(lifetime benefit).Reporting and payment processing is governed by the same rules as the traditional BHMT Individual Stipend Program. Note: Those participants who were previously approved for stipends and have already maxed out their $16,000 lifetime benefit are NOT eligible for the RN to BSN Program.

TUITION ASSISTANCE AND STIPEND OPTION

Participants can use both Tuition Assistance and Stipends at the same time.
Be advised that this option can drain your stipend account of $16,000 at a much faster rate since it paying both tuition fees and stipend time simultaneously. We strongly suggest that all participants manage this option carefully and to also use your regional KP Tuition Reimbursement account. Using your KP Tuition Reimbursement account in conjunction with your stipend benefit may increase the chances of you having funds available after completing your BSN degree. This is important if you decide to pursue your Master’s (MSN) degree or another certification in the future.

Please note that the stipend benefit of $16,000 does not recharge once all of the monies have been exhausted. As long as you are BHMT eligible and there are funds available you will always have access to your stipend account.

Frequently Asked Questions

BEFORE APPLYING

I have not completed all the pre-requisites or my classes were more than 7 years ago. What can I do?
Please review our catalog of courses at Ben-U which offer all of these pre-requisite classes. Taking these classes through Ben-U will reduce the financial impact on your personal and stipend funds as these classes are paid for by BHMT. Please check the school overview pages to confirm if your Ben-U classes will transfer into their program.

Can I take my pre-requisite classes at another school that is not in a part of Ben-U?
YES you may take your pre-requisites at another school. Be advised that you are financially responsible for paying whatever tuition fees these schools may charge. Additionally you should check with the Academic/Enrollment Advisor at your BSN provider of choice and confirm that the classes from your school will be accepted as transfer credit.

Can I apply to the RN to BSN program if I am already attending school?
YES. If you are already attending one of the preferred providers on our list of schools you may apply to the RN to BSN program. Regions may deny applications from students who are close to completing their BSN degree. If your school of choice is not on the preferred provider list you will have the option to use stipend time only – no tuition assistance through BHMT will be available.

My manager will not approve my time off from work (stipend time), can I still be in the RN to BSN program?
YES. The stipend benefit is only one part of the program and you are not required to use stipend time to participate.

POST-APPROVAL

I have been accepted into school now I am getting emails/calls asking me for a tuition payment. Why is the tuition amount different than what it says on BHMT’s website?
BHMT has negotiated a special discounted tuition rate with your school. Many of these schools have multiple offices so they may not all be aware of our partnership. There is also level of communications that automatically happens once you are enrolled in a school system. These communications may not reflect the correct fees or steps through the partnership with BHMT. Contact us if you have any issues or problems.

I called/emailed my school and nobody seems to know what/who BHMT is. Why is that?
Many of these schools have multiple offices across various states so they may not all be aware of our existence and partnership. Please contact BHMT if you are having any problems or issues.

Who do I call if I have a problem with my tuition, registration or enrollment?
Always contact BHMT first and we will reach out to the correct personnel at your school to address you concerns.
