  • HSS261 Ethics in Healthcare
    Healthcare ethics has a major impact on everyone involved in healthcare from the patient to the provider. The healthcare management professional must be equipped to act as an ethical administrator. This course is designed to provide the foundation for ethical practice and an overview of the various influences on healthcare ethics.
  • ENGL104: Introductory Written Communication
    This course equips students with the writing skills necessary for success in academic, professional, and personal situations requiring formal and informal writing. The workshop-style course focuses on helping students build confidence in their writing abilities as they learn to choose essay topics, develop introduction paragraphs and thesis statements, create effective body paragraphs and topic sentences, and draft conclusion paragraphs. Students will also learn to identify their audience and purpose in writing. The required composition sequence advances essential practices and habits for all skilled writers and critical thinkers.
  • COMS105: Interpersonal Communication
    This course explores the importance of effective interpersonal communication. It covers: how interpersonal communication impacts an individual, how to recognize the different methods of communication, and how to establish and maintain personal and professional relationships through effective communication.
  • HSS121: Medical Terminology
    This course is designed for students who need to know the language of health care. The purpose of the course is to help the student to succeed by familiarizing them with how medical words are formed and by providing a systematic learning structure. Students will need to learn various parts of a term including prefixes, roots, suffixes and combining forms as used in the study of the human body.
  • HSS110: Concepts in Healthcare Organizations
    This course examines the principles of financial, practice management as well as administrative medical office administration. It introduces students to communication and interpersonal skills; patient reception, education, and processing; supervision and training of personnel; insurance verifications; equipment and supply inventory; and accounts payable and receivable.
