Computed Tomography Training Program


Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust (BHMT) has partnered with the Mayo Clinic and Kaiser Permanente School of Allied Health Sciences (KPSAHS) to design a Computed Tomography training program for Diagnostic Imaging Technologist to prepare for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) CT certification exam. The training program consists of 2 parts: Mayo Clinic will provide the online didactic portion, and your KP region will provide the clinical rotations.


Mayo Clinic CT Online Training Program (4 months).

  • Self-paced online program available 24/7
  • Covers the fundamentals of CT imaging
  • CT focus content areas include: patient care and safety, imaging procedures, and physics and instrumentation
  • Upon completion of program, you earn 3 academic credits
  • Optional book: Computed Tomography: Physical Principles, Clinical Applications, and Quality Control (3rd Edition, ISBN 1416028951)


Regional Clinical Rotation (400 hours)

  • Must be approved by your Regional Diagnostic Imaging Director
  • BHMT will pay stipend time for up to 20 hours per week for 10 weeks
  • Regional Diagnostic Imaging Director supports applicant in obtaining 125 scans required to complete the application for the ARRT-CT certification exam

How Do I Register?

Interested Employee: Please contact your Regional Imaging Director.


  • You must be a KP Union Alliance or Coalition Employee with “active” KP employment status.
  • You must have completed your probationary period.
  • You must be a regular, benefited full-time or part-time employee –typically working 20 hours or more per week.
  • You must currently be a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist at KP
  • You must have clinical exposure in CT
  • You must have some knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
  • You must have required 400 hour clinical rotation schedule approved by the Regional Diagnostic Imaging Director
